Job Purpose
As a Harvesting Automation Concept Systems Engineer, you will develop next-generation sensing, control, and automation technologies for future harvesting equipment.
You will lead innovation projects from early concept creation through simulation, prototype development, vehicle integration, and field validation. Working at the intersection of machine automation, sensing technologies, software, and agricultural machinery, you will transform emerging technologies into practical solutions that improve harvesting productivity, efficiency, and operator experience.
This role combines systems engineering, hands-on control/sensor development, field testing, and collaboration with product platforms, simulation teams, vehicle electronics teams, and external research partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative sensing, control, and automation concepts for future harvesting products.
- Define system architectures, functional concepts, requirements, interfaces, and validation strategies.
- Evaluate and mature emerging technologies in automation, AI, machine learning, sensing, robotics, and advanced controls.
- Develop simulation models and collaborate with advanced simulation teams to evaluate concepts before vehicle implementation
- Lead field-testing activities and validation campaigns under real-world harvesting conditions.
- Design robust sensing and control solutions capable of operating in challenging agricultural environments, including dust, mud, vibration, varying crop conditions, and changing environmental factors.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes, and implement improvements to achieve performance targets.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to transfer successful concepts into future product development programs.
- Work with universities, research institutes, and technology partners to accelerate innovation. Support and mentor interns and students involved in innovation projects.
Experience Required
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Robotics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
- Minimum 4 year working experience on Mechatronic systems.
- Experience with agricultural, off-road or mobile machinery.
- Willingness to travel and participate in field evaluations

- Strong interest in innovation and development of new technologies and challenges within existing solutions.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, controls, sensing technologies, simulation, or software development:
- Control systems (Matlab/Simulink)
- Machine perception and sensor fusion
- Computer vision and machine learning
- Data analytics and Python development
- Embedded software development
- Vehicle automation and autonomous systems
- Simulation and virtual validation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to combine conceptual thinking with hands-on engineering.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Experience working with universities or research partners.
