Job Purpose

Leads and directs Maintenance personnel in assigned areas in accordance with approved plant policies, objectives and programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out instructions and assignments given the employee by his/her supervisor in an efficient manner
  • Responsible for training, assigning and evaluating personnel assigned to his/her area and updating the cross training matrix.
  • Responsible for making, monitoring, and tracking suggestions involving machinery, tools, and equipment improvement, methods and process improvement and product improvement.  Includes completing kaizens.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the plant’s safety rules, policies and practices prior to performing assigned job duties, holds self and others accountable.  Knowledge of proper and safe operating practices of any assigned machinery or equipment along with delivering safety huddles messages.
  • Responsible of helping to maintain good housekeeping practices in accordance with lean standards.
  • Maintain area specific communication/information boards and communicate to the area.
  • Basic understanding of all maintenance operations.
  • Responsible for assigning, maintaining, repairing, and installation of all equipment and machine tools in the plant while fully utilizing the Emergency Work Order(EWO) process. Responsible for the metrics of the EWO system for department needs.
  • Assign and perform all preventative maintenance tasks as required. Create and report data from CMMS. Utilize and revise Standard Maintenance Procedures(SMP) as needed. Responsible for the metrics of the CMMS system for department needs.
  • Responsible for assigning and maintaining good housekeeping practices in accordance with company requirements. Performing department 5s Audits
  • Be able to teach the team key lean skills: 5S, 4M, 5Why, NVAA, MUDA, Cause-Effect, etc.and be an integral part of the PM pillar leadership
  • Work cooperatively with others as part of the team, is customer focused,  positively coaches and communicates, results oriented, takes initiative, strives for continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Leader
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Experience Required

  • Preferred 2-5 years experience as a maintenance mechanic for manufacturing operations with knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration and machine repair.

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must be a team player, organized and self-motivated
  • Must be able to prioritize
  • Have the ability to work successfully with computers and software
  • Experienced in the industrial environment
  • Have the ability to read, write, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Have the ability to make decisions.
  • Able to perform and teach each job
  • Competent understanding of business strategy and how to communicate and support.
  • Ability to create a positive work environment
  • Ability to create/monitor metrics
  • Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.
  • Minimum abilities and/or skills required: Lockout/Tagout training, confined space training, Hazmat communications, hazardous waste and accountability training, forklift license, respirator training, personal protective equipment training and monthly safety topic training.
  • This position is 2nd shift. Hours are 2:30pm - 11pm
