Job Purpose

The Tax Specialist is responsible for supporting the Company's tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting activities. This role consists of the preparation of tax returns, tax provisions, tax research, and audit support while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. The position partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to support the Company's tax objectives and identify opportunities for process improvements and tax efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax filings and supporting workpapers as well as and the return-to-provision analysis.
  • Prepare tax provision calculations and supporting documentation, including analysis of temporary and permanent tax differences, as well as maintaining deferred tax inventory and roll forwards and preparation of tax account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the effective tax rate budget and forecast process.
  • Prepare complex tax adjustments such as fixed assets and inventory-related tax adjustments, etc.
  • Support tax audits and examinations by responding to information requests and coordinating with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Research tax laws, regulations, and technical issues, and document findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in evaluating the tax implications of business transactions and proposed initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assist with implementation of new reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, and Legal teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
  • Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to improve tax processes and reduce risk.
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and automation initiatives within the tax function.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and presentations for management as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant corporate tax, public accounting, or related experience.
  • Experience with tax compliances, tax accounting, and tax research software (e.g. Corptax, CCH, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations to business activities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to various audiences.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functional teams and influence outcomes.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $63,750.00 - $97,750.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
