Job Purpose

Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys analysing data, solving business problems, and partnering with stakeholders to drive results?

 

We're looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst & SG&A Controller to join our team in St Marys, NSW. This unique role combines commercial finance and business analysis with financial planning, stakeholder engagement and business partnering across the organisation.

 

Commercial analysis experience is key to success in this role. Beyond that, we're looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with others, influencing decisions, and building strong relationships across the business. Direct experience in SG&A controlling is an advantage, but we also welcome candidates with strong commercial finance backgrounds who are willing to develop in this area.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Commercial, Sales and functional leaders to provide financial insights and decision support.
  • Analyse pricing, incentives, commercial programs, margins and profitability to support business performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities across the business.
  • Monitor SG&A expenditure against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver meaningful financial reporting, variance analysis and management insights.
  • Review commercial initiatives and provide recommendations based on financial and operational impacts.
  • Coordinate planning activities across multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Support cost optimisation initiatives and continuous process improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation as a trusted Finance Business Partner.
  • Contribute to system and reporting enhancements using tools such as SAP, Excel and Power BI.

Experience Required

We're looking for a commercially minded finance professional with experience in commercial analysis, FP&A, financial analysis, management accounting, or a similar role.

 

You will bring:

 

  • Proven experience analysing financial and commercial performance to support business decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Commercial acumen and an understanding of how pricing, margins, profitability and business initiatives impact financial outcomes.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to build strong relationships across multiple functions.
  • Strong organisational skills, accountability and the ability to coordinate activities across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Advanced Excel skills and an interest in leveraging systems and reporting tools to improve decision-making.
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI and/or HFM will be highly regarded but is not essential.

 

Commercial analysis experience is essential for this role. Experience in SG&A controlling, budgeting and forecasting will be highly regarded, however we're equally interested in candidates who enjoy partnering with stakeholders, communicating across teams and developing their finance business partnering capabilities.
