Job Purpose

As our Purchasing Manager based at our head office in St Marys NSW, you’ll lead the purchasing function across direct materials, parts, indirect materials, and logistics. You’ll set the strategic direction for the team in line with business objectives, driving quality, sourcing, negotiation outcomes and supplier performance across our ANZ operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a procurement culture of best practice negotiations, market testing, and process improvements to achieve budget outcomes
  • Develop strategies and team capabilities to secure strong contracts that meet capacity and quality requirements through our global supply base
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the purchasing team, building insight into commodity markets, cost drivers, global pricing, lead times and supplier capabilities
  • Strategically manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company objectives
  • Build strong internal stakeholder relationships to influence business strategy with market insights and supply base risks
  • Analyse, identify and lead process improvement initiatives across the function
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture with suppliers, through quality audits, training, and certification where required

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in purchasing or related field preferred
  • Proven management experience across direct and indirect purchasing functions
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills to develop less experienced procurement personnel
  • Solid component and cost knowledge (e.g., fabrication, machining, casting, hydraulics)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver purchasing budgets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to track market trends and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions
  • Skilled negotiator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Experienced in influencing senior stakeholders and building strong working relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with experience with SAP
