Job Purpose
The Software Support Engineer II, is responsible for providing advanced technical support for Precision Agriculture software products, ensuring stable, reliable, and high‑quality digital solutions for farmers and internal stakeholders. This role serves as a critical escalation point for complex software issues, combining deep technical and domain expertise with strong problem‑solving and customer advocacy to minimize operational disruption and improve product performance.
The position works cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Field Operations, and external partners to diagnose systemic issues, drive root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous product and service improvements. By restoring service efficiently and feeding actionable insights back into development and quality processes, the role directly supports the Precision Ag mission of enabling smarter, more efficient, and more profitable farming operations.
Key Responsibilities
L2 Engineering Product Support & Service Management
- Provide L2 product support on AG Digital applications and their backends, focusing on incident containment and analysis.
- Perform problem identification and analysis to reduce recurring issues and drive systemic fixes.
- Support managing code changes and production deployments with engineering and release stakeholders.
- Create and maintain knowledge artifacts such as troubleshooting documentation and runbooks. Should be able to independently work on dataflow diagrams and defect trees for rca analysis.
Collaboration & Escalation
- Collaborate using an ITIL-oriented approach with development, product, and platform teams.
- Coordinate with architecture, global projects, and functional streams to resolve complex issues.
- Escalate effectively to L3 Engineering or CloudOps when required.
FMIS / Farm Portal Domain Support
- Support agronomic data visualization, reporting, activity history, file processing, and vehicle metrics/location history.
- Use internal and external support tools such as FarmViewer, Excel, Debug Tools, and GIS utilities.
- Investigate common incidents including missing layers, stuck file processing, telemetry mismatches, and boundary errors.
Monitoring & Operational Excellence
- Contribute to proactive monitoring using dashboards and troubleshooting scripts.
- Strengthen service operations through process, tools, and runbook improvements.
Customer & Team Enablement
- Provide white-glove customer interactions with empathy and professionalism.
- Enable and mentor junior support engineers as applicable.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Strong agricultural operations background
- Familiarity with precision agriculture data standards such as ISOXML, Shapefile, and ADAPT.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience working in cross-functional, global environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of ITIL service management practices.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience supporting integrated, partner-facing platforms.
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is $84,375 - $112,500 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
