Second Shift Position: hours 2:30pm - 11:00pm ($2.00/hour shift differential)

Team Lead Position: $3.00/hour team lead premium

Job Purpose

The position's basic function is to oversee, monitor and coordinate their teams’ activities to ensure the achievement of established goals while maintaining positive employee relations. They will monitor their team’s operation with particular focus on man, material, machine, and method to detect any abnormalities and correct the situation. They will apply lean manufacturing tools and techniques to continuously improve safety, cost, quality, and productivity in their areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including those regarding the usage of PPE, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
  • To identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by completing observation cards.
  • To maintain 5s by removing all tools, equipment, and parts not needed in the work area and for those that are needed to ensure they have a dedicated, labeled home and are in that dedicated home. 
  • To monitor for and alert their Team Leader or Supervisor of any abnormalities from the standards in their area. This includes abnormalities in standard processes, standard machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.
  • Completes all CILR activities as required, identifies deficiencies and sources of contamination, including difficult access areas in the workstation, and provides suitable countermeasures to address these issues.
  • To conduct SMESS/start of shift activities and communication each shift.
  • To update daily the Lean Daily Management boards, they are responsible for and to initiate actions when not meeting targets.
  • To perform assigned activities, including conducting training, in order achieve the skill and knowledge targets for the department- maintaining 100% training completion.
  • To carry out assigned tasks and to achieve the Kaizen completion target for the department- 100% of employees achieving Kaizen target.
  • To perform assigned activities, including reviewing, approving, and implementing Kaizen Suggestions/Quick Kaizens, in order achieve the Kaizen Suggestions target for the department - 100% of employees achieving Kaizen Suggestions Target.
  • To perform assigned activities, including maintaining risk assessments, risk predictions, eliminating high and very high risks in their area, and SMAT’s in order achieve the Safety targets for the department.
  • To achieve the department Productivity, Delivery, and Quality targets by performing a variety of activities.
  • To perform a variety of tasks acting as an operator, following all applicable policies, procedures, and working instructions.  
  • To contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity by submitting one (1) Suggestion every two (2) months for a total of six (6) per year

Experience Required

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years applied trades training, (mechanical and electrical aptitude) or equivalent work experience using shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, production planning and/or project management.
  • Able to perform light physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving average weight material

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a CNH Saskatoon weld evaluation.
  • Able to utilize a computer to run various CAD packages and blueprints for designing jigs. 
  • Previous experience supervising or leading in a manufacturing environment.
  • Cross functional experience (Quality, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, Safety).
  • Experience participating and leading continuous improvement activities.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Able to work with minimal direction.
