Job Purpose
Reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager this position is responsible for assisting in the managing of environmental, safety, and health processes and providing leadership for all matters related to employee safety and health. They will support manufacturing personnel to ensure that systems are in place to drive continuous improvement in employee safety programs. They create customer success by delivering the best experiences to their internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
Duties may include all or a portion of, but not limited to, the following:
- Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including those regarding the usage of PPE, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
- To identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by completing observation cards.
- To maintain 5s by removing all tools, equipment, and parts not needed in the work area and for those that are needed to ensure they have a dedicated, labeled home and are in that dedicated home.
- To monitor for and alert their Team Leader or Supervisor of any abnormalities from the standards in their area. This includes abnormalities in standard processes, standard machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.
- Support the administration of Incident Investigations, from the start to the development of corrective actions based on Root Cause Analysis.
- Assist in the data collection and presentation of all KPIs and KAIs related to EHSE.
- Assist in programs and procedures related to regulatory compliance and reduction of EHS&E
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and training modules for use by shop employees, supervisors, and management teams.
- Lead and support continuous improvement of the EHS&E function across the site.
- Support Environmental, Energy and Health/Safety Teams through leading safety labs, project development, Risk Assessments, etc
- Assist in the development, implementation and compliance of policies, programs, processes, procedures and reduce EH&S hazards associated with plant operations.
- Assist in preparing reports, information, and presentations for the site OH&S Committee.
- Work with the EHSE Manager and HR supporting Return to Work Programs.
- Compile Environmental Key Performance Indicators through the use of data analysis, regular reports, sustainability requirements.
- Monitor and analyze environmental opportunities to determine potential opportunities and make recommendations to reduce our environmental footprint.
- Conduct Environmental audits to continuously reassess opportunities towards 0% going to the landfill.
- Conduct research or collect data on renewable or alternative energy systems or technologies such as solar thermal and photovoltaic energy.
- To contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity by submitting one (1) Suggestion every two (2) months for a total of six (6) per year.
Experience Required
- Completion of a related post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental, Health and Safety along with equivalent work experience would be an asset.
- Proficient in the use of as Microsoft Office.

- Experience as a safety professional in heavy industrial and manufacturing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate fluently and influence safety behaviors.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and policies.
- Proficiency with technology and equipment used in safety and environmental inspections.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of manufacturing facilities and machining processes; familiarity with shop floor
- Knowledge of industrial and office ergonomics
- Ability to foster and stress the importance of a safety culture
