Job Purpose
The Senior Systems Engineer at CNH will play a critical role in the development of precision guidance, automated driving, and machine control systems for on-road and off-road vehicles, with a strong focus on agricultural equipment. This role serves as a technical integrator across software, controls, hardware, platform, marketing, and external suppliers to ensure delivery of high-quality, customer-focused systems across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed system requirements, specifications, and high-level architecture based on customer, regulatory, and stakeholder inputs.
- Act as the primary interface between platform engineering, software, controls, hardware teams, product management, marketing, and external suppliers.
- Drive system-level design ownership for precision auto guidance features from concept through delivery.
- Support integration of systems across multiple vehicle platforms, ensuring alignment with global product development processes.
- Break down system and vehicle-level requirements into clear technical requirements for software, controls, and hardware teams.
- Assist program and project managers in developing and executing overall project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
- Review and guide system-level test, validation, and verification (PV&V) strategies to ensure full requirement coverage.
- Provide technical leadership for issue resolution, including support of product support teams and investigation of field issues.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and management.
- Apply sound engineering principles, safety standards, and quality methodologies in all aspects of system design and execution.
- Identify opportunities for product and system improvements and drive innovation through new concepts, invention disclosures, and intellectual property creation.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports in alignment with company standards and development processes.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Agricultural, or related discipline).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product development with a strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to see end-to-end product impacts.
- At least 4 years of experience in requirements definition, documentation, and system architecture for on-road or off-road vehicle systems.
- Experience working with vehicle network and communication systems such as CAN, J1939, and ISO 11783.
- Knowledge of closed-loop control systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an objective, fact-based approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging cross-functional and global stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing complex system specifications for automotive, off-highway, or agricultural vehicles.
- Familiarity with Precision Farming or Precision Guidance systems.
- Experience with simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- Working knowledge of vehicle control systems hardware, including GPS, sensors, hydraulic valves, and actuators.
- Exposure to autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle systems.
- Hands-on experience with CAN tools such as CANalyzer or CANoe.
- Farming or agricultural background is a plus.
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is $106,725 - $163,645 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
