Job Purpose

As a Hardware In Loop Test Engineer - Driveline Software, you will be responsible for testing of embedded software for CNH’s drivetrain control system. You will also be responsible to developing test specifications, configuring test environment simulator, author test scripts and performing Hardware-In-Loop verification and validation testing of the integrated software according to system and software specifications in line with functional requirements and the safety plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create test cases in natural language and script them for execution based on software requirements to ensure complete test coverage
  • Create automation test manager suite for set of test cases
  • Create plant models (digital twin) using matlab Simulink model based design and/or Simscape to emulate tractor behavior applicable to validate driveline control unit as device under test
  • Configure HIL – pin allocation on HIL for emulating sensors, actuators, CAN network communication
  • Configure Fault Insert Unit for emulating electrical circuit fault testing
  • Effectively debug HIL electrical issues using oscilloscope and multimeter
  • Configure HIL user interface test environment to monitor critical software and plant parameters
  • Execute manual HIL testing during initial stage of development to verify basic functionality
  • Execute automated regression HIL testing.
  • Debug HIL execution issues – identify rootcause and resolve – configuration / test case / plant / software / electrical
  • Thoroughly review HIL test results to debug failed test cases and identify if failure is related to test case, plant model, test environment or DUT software
  • Work closely with Controls Engineers to report failures and update test cases / pass fail metrics based on sw / plant changes
  • Lead HIL group and mentor junior test engineers

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field with 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with HIL testing embedded software for automotive electronics, driveline highly preferred, in a production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with NI Veristand or dSpace HIL environment (NI toolchain is highly preferred)
  • Highly proficient in using Vector CANalyzer, CANape, Etas INCA, dSpace Control Desk, svn or git version control
  • Highly proficient in Simulink Model Based Design controls design and Simscape.
  • Knowledge of J1939 and UDS protocols
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, software v-cycle process, Autosar.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is $86,325 - $132,000 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
