Job Purpose
Design Engineer II is an intermediate-level engineering professional and a key member of the tractor product development team. The role creates electrical routing and integration solutions for new programs and improves and maintains existing products. The role delivers wire harnesses, cables, mounting brackets, tractor schematics, and power distribution strategies from concept through release and production support. This position has a hybrid work model, based out of Oak Brook, IL or Racine, WI.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust wire harness, cable, bracket, and electrical component mounting solutions in accordance with internal standards and engineering best practices.
- Deliver designs that meet program quality, cost, performance, and timing targets.
- Coordinate interfaces with electronics, mechanical, vehicle architecture, and other technical teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Conduct design reviews to incorporate feedback from cross functional group and support successful industrialization.
- Create installation drawings for harness and cable routing, electrical component, and associated bracketry.
- Complete engineering releases for assigned systems in alignment with department standards and program milestones.
- Investigate field issues and warranty claims, determine root causes, and implement corrective design solutions.
- Prepare engineering work orders and support procurement and installation of parts for prototype tractor builds.
- Provide hands-on support during prototype builds and field operations, including issue investigation and resolution.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant design and product development experience with on-road or off-road vehicles or equipment
- 3+ years of experience with Pro/ENGINEER Creo or comparable 3D CAD tool
- Working knowledge of electrical circuits, schematics, wire harness design and vehicle electrical integration
- Ability to work with moderate guidance and direction, manage assigned priorities, and deliver to quality and timing commitments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination, and written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in agriculture machines, ideally tractors, sprayers, or combines
- Experience with PTC Creo cabling and TeamCenter
- Experience with Siemens Capital portfolio tools such as Logic and Harness designer
- Experience with root cause investigation methodologies such as FMEAs, 5 Whys, Fishbone
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is USD $74,625.00 - $114,425.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
