Job Purpose
Engineering Prototype Shop Technician – 3rd Shift Machining. Working as a team develop prototype parts and assemblies to support product validation within CNH's wide variety of products. Successful candidate will enter a comprehensive four-year training program consisting of on-the-job training and related home study courses.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented technician to support the machining of prototype components, lab fixtures, and test vehicles. This role requires interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, and working from verbal instructions to complete a variety of hands-on tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Design and fabricate custom machining fixtures as needed.
• Select appropriate tooling, creating and adjusting programs
• Safely operate machining equipment to manufacture and modify components.
• Accurately measure materials using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
• Utilize a wide range of hand tools for daily fabrication and machining tasks
• Collaborate with engineers and team members to troubleshoot and refine prototypes.
Experience Required
Proven mechanical background and ability
• Desire to develop highly skilled shop practices in machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools and techniques.
• Experienced with personal computers using MS Office.
• Ability to communicate and work with a wide range of individuals including design, test and analysis.
• Must be a motivated self-starter and be able to work independently or in a team environment
• Must have the ability to travel to different locations / field sites as required (15 to 25% - 12 week maximum)
Preferred Qualifications
• Two year Trade School Degree with emphasis in Manufacturing, Fabrication, Machining, Welding Drafting, CAD or Automotive, OR 3-5 years fabrication/machining/assembly experience in a manufacturing and/or prototype shop environment
• Blue print and Geometrical Dimensioning knowledge and understanding
• Ability to lead or facilitate teams through prototype builds
