Job Purpose

As a Embedded Software Engineer within the Harvesting Integration Team, you will design, develop, and evaluate software for embedded systems from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, develop, test, and evaluate embedded software.
  • Work with teams to facilitate deployment related to embedded software programs. 
  • Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhanced integration between software and hardware.
  • Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.
  • Work with external customers to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications. 
  • May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing software. 
  • May assist with quote or request for quote process. 
  • Demonstrates support for company culture in their daily actions and behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.  Follow established safety and ergonomic standards. 
  • May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.
  • Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Design, develop, debug and unit test C/C++ source code and/or Model Base Software for embedded controllers per given requirements and specifications while applying best practice and methodologies.
  • Design control strategies and algorithms for complex systems (Electro Hydraulic, Electro-Mechanical).
  • Manage the interaction between complex subsystems and their related calibrations to ensure system performance and robustness is optimized.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, and diagrams to support problem analysis.
  • Contribute to software and system verification activity and related problem solving.
  • Support Product Validation engineers as they conduct functional and performance testing

Experience Required

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience with Embedded Software design using ‘C/C++’ programming language
  • Experience with real time operating systems.
  • Ability to apply design theory and methodology.
  • High level of customer service skills. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred.
  • Well-developed problem analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with a computer, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and leadership staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ‘C/C++’ programming language, Model Based Software Design using Mathworks® MATLAB/Simulink® and Stateflow®, automatic code generation tools, and other relevant development design tools
  • Experience using Vector CAN tools including CANalyzer
  • Experience developing embedded software on agricultural or off-highway mobile equipment
  • Experience with complete electronic vehicle systems architecture and software
  • Good working knowledge of electronic components and communication network protocols (CAN, LIN, J1939, UDS, XCP, ISOBUS)
  • Experience with code debuggers, code analysis, and memory management.
  • Experience with automated testing (LABview, CAPL, etc)
  • Experience with Electro-Hydraulic or vehicle control systems for on/off-highway vehicle systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design analysis tool and other relevant engineering systems
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and organization/control skills.
  • Experience with network client/server architecture
  • Experience designing and operating agricultural equipment
  • Proficiency in completion of multiple small to large projects from conception to product release
  • Experience in a strong cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
