Job Purpose
The Vehicle Diagnostic and Network System Engineer develops the technical definitions and common standards to enable proper diagnostic and vehicle communication support to development, manufacturing and servicing of CNH's full line of Agricultural and Construction.
The engineer will support on specifying the diagnostic and network communication requirements for each networked component.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand diagnostic capabilities of ECUs
- Understand the configuration and service requirement of vehicle
- Develop/create documentation of diagnostic and network communication for supporting the vehicle development
- Design on-vehicle communication network including functional and diagnostic protocol, message definition, bus capacity and timing analysis
- Interface to vehicle integration, system and software engineers to support implementation of diagnostics and network designs
- Ensure support for testing development.
- Ensure application of CNH Industrial and Industry standards (SAE, ISO) and best practices.
- Collaborate in the creation and maintenance of a centralized library of Signals and DTCs across the whole CNH portfolio
Experience Required
- A Bachelor degree in Electronic/Computer Engineering (or similar) is required
- At least 2 years demonstratable experience automotive/off-road on vehicle networks and diagnostics (e.g. UDS, J1939, LIN)
- At least 2 years demonstratable experience designing and testing CAN and diagnostic communication (preferably J1939 and UDS) including physical layers (e.g. transceivers, cables, connectors)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge on CAN Network and Diagnostic Protocols (e.g. J1939, LIN, ISOBUS, KWP, UDS, J1939/73)
- Basic knowledge about Diagnostic authoring tools and standard formats (e.g. CANdelaStudio, ODX/cdd)
- Understanding of ECU I/O (e.g. Analog input channels, frequency input channels)
- Experience using Vector network development tools (e.g. CANoe, CANalyzer)
- Experience using Collaboration tools, (e.g. Microsoft Sharepoint)
- Experience using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), (e.g. Polarion)
- Experience using Configuration Management tools (e.g. Subversion)
- Understanding of layered Network models (e.g. OSI standard)
- Understanding of System Engineering Methods (e.g. V-Model)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize work an escalate issues appropriately
- Effective communication and presentation skills to peers, stakeholders, and senior-level leadership
