Job Purpose
The hydraulics engineer will develop and validate components across a range of products in both Agriculture and Construction segments. Working closely with vehicle engineering, application engineering, and suppliers, the engineer will focus on a number of component resourcing initiatives. Primary functions include ensuring requirements are communicated to suppliers and concepts meet those requirements. The engineer will assist suppliers in the development and validation of components, release drawings, and work with vehicle engineering to validate components and systems on vehicles. The engineer can also expect to build up developmental suppliers, develop components for new product, and resolve hydraulic issues as they occur.
Key Responsibilities
The hydraulics engineer will develop components for mobile applications across several machine platforms within both construction and agriculture.
- Work with suppliers on a number of resourcing projects, meeting platform requirements, and mitigating risk.
- Interface with worldwide cross functional teams to develop new components and resolve hydraulic challenges.
- Develop hydraulic components for mobile applications, including 3D-modeling, creation of 2D-drawings, and release of documentation into data-management system.
- Develops and owns best practices and engineering specifications for hydraulic components.
- Develop and validate hydraulic components of external suppliers.
- Continuous improvement of quality and cost of components.
- Ensures designs, suppliers, and manufacturing meet customer requirements, standards, and specifications.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Mechanical engineering degree with at least 3 years of work experience in component design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with valves, and/or pumps/motors preferred.
- Understanding of hydraulic components for mobile applications.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes of hydraulic components.
- Understanding of validation methods for components.
- Understanding of hydraulic component design calculations, and failure modes.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good project management skills.
- Candidate would have an interest in developing hydraulic components and systems, with a desire to develop deep expertise in one or several components.
- Self-starter with independent thinking, able to work in small teams with minimal supervision.
- Works well with worldwide cross functional teams.
- Good communication skills (presentation, written, and verbal)
