Job Purpose
The Driveline Technical Project Leader is part of the core expert team within the Driveline Component Product Line. The role works closely with the Vehicle Chief Engineer & Platform team, Driveline Engineering functions, manufacturing and suppliers to develop and deliver new driveline solutions.
The person in this role leads the Driveline project execution from requirements collection (and elicitation), to concept development up to Start of Production, ensuring that the solution meets internal customer needs: performances, timing, cost, quality and reliability targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead driveline projects from product requirements definition, constantly support concept development phases and engineering design intermediate milestones, up to Start of Production.
Monitor project schedule, technical open issues and risk mitigation actions. Represent DVL team in all the meetings with our internal customers.
Work with the Vehicle Chief Engineer and Platform team to collect product specifications, review vehicle product profiles and requirements, provide initial feasibility feedback, and translate customer and vehicle needs into clear driveline technical targets.
Organize and supports technical reviews of studies, layouts, and technical proposals for new transmissions and effectively supports and manage to final decisions all major modifications of existing designs, ensuring alignment with product specifications and supporting, design-to-cost activities and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Plan and coordinate the engineering activities required by each technical area, including driveline architecture, simulation, mechanical design, hydraulics, electronics and software, product validation, maintaining the full technical picture of the project and promoting standardization and reuse of proven technical solutions where applicable.
Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to integrate technical solutions, ensure they meet customer requirements, product performance targets and project timing, and communicate project status, risks and issues to Platform and key stakeholders in a clear and timely way.
Understand mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and software systems to support issue identification, root cause analysis and product improvement, with focus on performance, durability, reliability and timely product release.
Work with manufacturing and project application teams to support the industrialization process. Lead frequent technical discussions with suppliers to ensure that manufacturing solutions are consistent with drawings, design intent and quality expectations, and ensure that validation plans are defined, integrated and followed to confirm product performance, durability and reliability.
Experience Required
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems and Engineering BOM systems.
• Experience with manufacturing processes for transmission or driveline components.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, Design Review, Design to Cost and structured problem-solving methods.
• Proven experience in technical project management.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage priorities, risks and technical issues in a complex project environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Technical background in off-road vehicle applications.
• 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably on driveline, transmissions or axles.
• Experience in supplier technical management and industrialization activities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and international team.
• Willingness to travel frequently, mainly abroad, for short business trips of 2–5 days.
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is EUR 48.000 - 74.000 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
