Job Purpose
The Design Engineer & Hyd Simulation will follow a complete group of Drivelines by hydraulic point of view, mainly about hydraulic control, cooling, lubrication, power losses, efficiencies and heat rejection definition.
Job is divided both in new drivelines development and current production maintenance. This job requires capability to listen and have an overview of the full development and maintenance of a group of Drivelines, in a cross-functional daily job with continuous exchange of information with colleagues. Fluent speaking/listening/reading/writing in English is mandatory.
About new development, according to Product Profile of new project, the full list of possible activities begin with hydraulic schematic definition, in agreement also with Hydraulic Vehicle Team. Capability of reading and writing hydraulic schemes are necessary. Calculations and Simulations (in AMESim) are mandatory since project kick-off. Both hydraulic system, driveline power losses/efficiency and heat rejection must be simulated since project begin. Designer is also responsible of components selection and if necessary of product card writing in order to scout possible new components and suppliers. 3D and 2D model is also under Designer responsibility, capability of using Creo is recommended. Design of cast iron and aluminum manifolds and of hydraulic pipes are preferential skills. Also is appreciated knowledge about 3D print modelling of components. Also releasing process (in Siemens Teamcenter) is under Designer responsibility and it involves frequent participation and sharing of information with cross-functional team managing project milestones and costs. Designer is involved also in experimental validation of the new drivelines, participating to tests list definition and pre-test meetings. Sometimes also support directly to Testing could be required, designing testing tools/bench or testing cycles, also following test development and results in deep coordination with Test Dept. Contacts with suppliers, components industrialization in agreement also with Manufacturing Plants and Quality Dept. is inside Designer perimeter, since Ok to ship of new drivelines.
About CPM (Current Production Management), Designer is involved in from-field issues resolution, Manufacturing request management, Cost Saving and Sourcing activities in agreement with Supplier Quality Engineering, Platforms and Commodities.Visit to Suppliers, to Production Plant or every other Plants of CNH worldwide could be required (till 10% of working time).
Capability of deep use of AMESim is required (basic blue hydraulic library, pink pipe losses, red control, green powertrain, orange thermal exchange, capability of entering in custom CNH models and program new ones).
Use of Office is mandatory (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Project and Access are nice to have.
Preferential reasons for selection are expert use of Matlab and Simulink, experience also in Testing with capability of program in Arduino tests cycles, reading of drivelines kinematic schemes and understanding of a CVT Power-split architecture.
Nice to have is capability to design also with other CAD system (Solidworks, Solidedge) or FEM software.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop detailed product designs, including specifications, drawings, and 3D models, using design software (e.g., CAD, SolidWorks).
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product management teams to ensure designs meet requirements for functionality, cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Perform design calculations, simulations, and stress analysis to verify the performance and safety of products.
- Conduct design reviews and refine product designs based on feedback from stakeholders, ensuring that designs are optimized for production and meet customer needs.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, manuals, and reports, to support product development and manufacturing processes.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and design techniques to continuously improve design processes and product offerings.
- Follow current product maintenance in collaboration with supplier quality engineering, platforms and commodities
- Define in collaboration with Testing Dept. validation plan of the driveline
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduation in Fluid Power.
- Knowledge in Design, Testing and Simulation of Fluid-Power systems and components.
- At least 2 years of experience in product design with particular reference to Fluid-Power applications in mobile vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD. in Fluid Power, Creo, AMESim, Matlab, Simulink, Arduino, fluent in English, capability to read kinematic schemes of a driveline, knowledge about off-road vheicles and in particular tractors.
