Job Purpose

The Logistics Operations Lead is responsible for leading plant logistics operations through a team of supervisors to ensure the safe, efficient, and consistent flow of materials. This position provides leadership across multiple logistics functions, drives operational performance, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and partners with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Logistics Supervisors while holding them accountable for safety, performance, employee development, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency across logistics operations by establishing standardized expectations, priorities, and leadership practices.
  • Lead daily staffing and labor allocation decisions across all logistics functions.
  • Provide leadership and operational support by filling in for supervisors during planned and unplanned absences.
  • Coordinate manpower planning, staffing priorities, and transition plans for open positions.
  • Escalate engineering, process, and equipment issues to the Internal Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure all Logistics Lean Daily Management System (DMS) boards are accurate, current, and effectively utilized.
  • Attend daily Assembly DMS meetings to strengthen cross-functional communication and ensure alignment between Logistics and Production.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and drive corrective actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, and productivity.
  • Lead root cause analysis for safety, quality, delivery, and operational performance issues.
  • Support the implementation of new warehouse processes, technology, and automation initiatives.
  • Support Lean Daily Management and continuous improvement initiatives across all logistics operations.
  • Foster a safe, organized, and high-performing work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Five or more years of manufacturing, warehousing, or internal logistics experience.
  • At least two years of team-lead, acting-supervisor, or supervisory experience.
  • Relevant college education may be considered in lieu of part of the experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading supervisors or other leaders in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
