Job Purpose
As Legal Counsel, you provide legal expertise within your scope of responsibility and support the day-to-day activities of both the Agricultural and Construction segments in France. You ensure that company practices comply with applicable local and European regulations.
You act as a key legal partner for the business, contribute to international projects when relevant, and support Group entities with legal assessments under French law. You also collaborate closely with external counsel to protect the company’s interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders (commercial, dealer network, HR, finance, real estate, R&D, manufacturing).
- Monitor and interpret developments in French and EU legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Anticipate legal and compliance risks (e.g. competition law, Code of Conduct) and propose practical solutions.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and legal documents, with a strong focus on dealer agreements and network changes (terminations, appointments, etc.).
- Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters in collaboration with external law firms and internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external counsel, bailiffs and notaries.
- Contribute to legal projects at both France and EMEA level and ensure proper documentation and follow-up of legal files.
- Support corporate housekeeping activities (board and shareholder resolutions) together with the legal assistant.
- Organize and deliver legal and compliance training to internal stakeholders.
- Support the management of legal KPIs and budget under supervision of the Legal Counsel France/Benelux.
- Ensure confidentiality of all legal information handled.
Experience Required
- Master’s degree in Law
- 2 to 7 years of experience in a top-tier law firm and/or as in-house counsel in an international environment
- Proactive, structured and detail-oriented with a hands-on mindset
- High level of integrity, discretion and reliability
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
- Fluent in French (written and spoken)
- Good communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear advice
- Knowledge of distribution law or dealer networks is a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Business-oriented mindset with a pragmatic approach to legal challenges
