Job Purpose

The Commercial Controller will be a key member of the Finance leadership team. The Commercial Controller ensures the integrity of the commercial data and provides brand staff with relevant and accurate information to support business decisions.

This position is responsible for supporting the commercial performance and pricing governance of FS India. The role manages end-to-end pricing activities, including monthly interest rate calculations, pricing committee coordination, and communication of approved pricing to the business.

The role also monitors and manages pricing concessions and commercial support programs to help maintain and grow retail and wholesale finance volumes while ensuring alignment with profitability and business objectives.

In addition, the role partners closely with India MD, CFO, FP&A and Sales teams to support strike rate (sales penetration) analysis, reporting, and system updates, while providing commercial insights and commentary on sales performance trends.

The position requires strong analytical capability, stakeholder management, financial acumen, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional commercial processes in a fast-paced financial services environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Pricing Management & Governance
  • Prepare monthly interest rate and pricing calculations for retail and wholesale financing products.
  • Present pricing recommendations, market insights, and portfolio performance updates to the Pricing Committee.
  • Prepare pricing committee presentation materials and supporting commercial analysis.
  • Coordinate and organise monthly Pricing Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Ensure pricing decisions and approvals are appropriately documented in accordance with SOX and compliance guidelines.
  • Circulate approved pricing decks and communications to Finance, Business and Sales teams in a timely manner.
  • Maintain pricing records, approval documentation, and audit trails.

2. Project Analysis & Business Partnering

  • Partner with business teams on project planning and evaluation, including cost‑benefit and ROI analysis
  • Support development and enhancement of finance products in line with local market requirements
  • Lead or support financial evaluation of new financing products, new legal entities, or business initiatives, including market potential assessment
  • Provide financial inputs to shape the future business roadmap

3. Sales Performance Coordination

  • Liaise with Sales Heads and relevant business stakeholders to gather monthly sales commentary and market intelligence.
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly sales penetration commentary and performance summaries.
  • Support alignment between pricing strategy, commercial support programs, and sales performance outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication between Finance, Sales, and Commercial teams to ensure consistency of reporting and business objectives

4. Regulator, Investor & Executive Reporting Support

  • Support regulatory, management, and corporate reporting requirements including RBI reporting, internal group compliances and regulatory audits.
  • Support preparation of investor presentations, roadshow materials, and executive reporting packs for the Managing Director and the Treasurer.
  • Assist in compiling financial, commercial, and portfolio performance information for external stakeholder presentations.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and professionalism of presentation materials and supporting analysis.
  • Coordinate inputs from Finance, Treasury, Sales, and Commercial teams for investor reporting requirements.

5. Internal Controls, SOX & Compliance

  • Act as the key finance stakeholder for SOX and internal financial controls, ensuring both design and operating effectiveness
  • Drive remediation plans for audit findings, control gaps, and deficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with NBFC regulatory requirements, Ind AS, IFRS, US GAAP, RBI guidelines, and internal policies
  • Serve as the primary finance liaison for statutory, internal, and SOX audits

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with CFO, CAO, FP&A, Risk, Operations, Treasury and Compliance teams
  • Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and regulators, as required

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in diverse Finance roles (Accounting, Financial Planning, Controlling, Analytics, Pricing, Reporting, etc.)  Preferably at least 5 years of banking and financial services background.
  • In-depth knowledge across several product lines (Wholesale lending, Retail Lending) and support functions (Underwriting/Risk, Treasury, Operations)
  • Broad and deep practical experience in a global Captive Finance organization
  • Strong hands‑on experience in financial accounting, close processes, SOX, and internal controls
  • Solid understanding of Ind AS, regulatory reporting, and NBFC compliance requirements
  • Experience working within global or matrix organizations with tight reporting timelines
  • Proven ability to discuss contentious topics with various business leaders in a multi-dimensional environment (Industrial/Capital) and achieve a compromise

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively with internal executive management and/or various external parties

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting or Finance degree. Chartered Accountant (CA / CPA / MBA (Finance))
