Job Purpose

The India Compliance Manager will lead the compliance function for all entities in India, including any other assigned territories. The role will be responsible for developing, implementing, adapting, and monitoring the compliance and ethics program to ensure that business operations adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct, regulatory requirements, and internal compliance policies.

This position is critical in fostering a culture of integrity, workplace respect, and ethical behavior, while effectively managing compliance risks and ensuring strong program implementation. The role requires close collaboration with regional and global compliance teams, senior management, and functional leaders to drive a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Policy & Governance

  • Lead the implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of the Code of Conduct, compliance policies, and procedures within India and assigned territories.
  • Ensure timely updates and effective communication of global and regional compliance policies to employees.
  • Participate in ad-hoc compliance projects supporting the global reach of the function.

Training & Communication

  • Design and deliver local compliance training and education programs for employees, managers, and business partners.
  • Develop communication strategies to raise awareness of compliance requirements and ethical conduct.

Anti-Corruption & Ethics

  • Drive corruption prevention initiatives aligned with global anti-bribery and anti-corruption standards (FCPA, UKBA, Indian regulations).
  • Provide guidance to business on ethical risks and manage corruption-related concerns.

Third-Party Risk Management

  • Conduct third-party due diligence processes, including screening, monitoring, and risk assessments of dealers, distributors, suppliers, business partners, and other type of activities requiring compliance due diligence, in line with the company policy
  • Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and controls are in place.
  • Support regional compliance in expanding the due diligence application and train stakeholders to ensure awareness and correct use.

Conflict of Interest Management

  • Independently, or in coordination with HR, manage the Conflict of Interest disclosure process, review cases, and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Provide guidance on outside activities, gifts & hospitality, and other potential conflicts.

Investigations & Case Management

  • Handle Compliance Helpline and investigation cases, both independently and in collaboration with other departments, ensuring impartial, timely, and well-documented outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve allegations fairly and consistently and ensure disciplinary action and/or corrective action are fully implemented.
  • Report investigation cases promptly to the Regional Compliance Head and Global Compliance Team.

Workplace Respect & Culture

  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and ethical working environment.
  • Ensure workplace respect concerns (harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or misconduct) are proactively addressed through monitoring, training, and investigations.
  • Partner with HR to foster a positive employee experience and minimize compliance risks linked to workplace culture.

Governance & Oversight

  • Support the Compliance Head in convening the India Compliance & Ethics Committee (CEC) and the India Investigation Panel.
  • Present compliance updates, risk assessments, and investigation outcomes to India senior leadership and any other assigned territories.
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit, Company Secretary, and other stakeholders to ensure reporting obligations to authorities, if applicable.

Risk Assessment & Monitoring

  • Conduct local compliance risk assessments, identify gaps, and recommend mitigation controls.
  • Monitor high-risk areas such as anti-corruption, fraud, third-party relationships, and data privacy.

Program Management & Reporting

  • Lead the measurement of local compliance program effectiveness through KPIs, dashboards, and reporting.

Support global compliance initiatives, including external recognition programs.

Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of compliance programs, standards, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Independent, mature, and impartial in judgment, with the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and integrity
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence across functions in a large, international, matrix organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage across functions, regions, and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, foster teamwork, and influence stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in written and spoken English (mandatory) and Hindi. Other languages will be a strong plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution preferred. Law degree and Bar admission will be a strong plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in Corporate Compliance in multinational companies. Alternatively, 8+ years in in-house Legal Counsel, Internal Audit or Corporate Investigations will be considered.
  • Solid knowledge of local and global regulatory requirements (anti-bribery, anti-corruption, Indian regulations).
