Job Purpose
The Sr. Buyer – Indirect Purchasing, Services Contracting and Service Procurement will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, contract finalization and purchase execution for indirect service categories supporting manufacturing operations, corporate functions, engineering, plant infrastructure and business services. The role will cover a broad range of non-production spend, including facility management, plant maintenance services, manpower and outsourced services, logistics and warehousing support, security, housekeeping, travel, consulting, engineering services, IT and digital services, AMC contracts, utilities support, administrative services, and other service agreements required to run operations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Identification and Qualification: Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers for indirect purchasing and service categories, including facility management, housekeeping, security, canteen, transportation, logistics support, warehousing services, plant maintenance, AMC services, manpower outsourcing, project services, consulting, engineering support, IT and digital services, and other business support services. Assess suppliers based on technical capability, service quality, commercial competitiveness, statutory compliance, financial strength, safety standards, scalability and past performance.
Supplier Performance and Service Governance: Define and monitor KPIs and SLAs for service providers, including service uptime, response time, manpower availability, quality of execution, safety performance, statutory compliance, cost adherence, issue closure and stakeholder satisfaction. Conduct periodic performance reviews and drive corrective actions where service delivery does not meet agreed expectations.
Services Contracting and Negotiation: Lead RFQ/RFP processes, techno-commercial evaluation, negotiation and contract finalization for service procurement. Negotiate pricing models, rate contracts, annual maintenance contracts, manpower rates, service level agreements, penalty clauses, escalation/de-escalation mechanisms, payment terms, warranty obligations, compliance requirements and exit clauses to ensure commercially competitive and contractually robust outcomes.
Purchase Order and Contract Lifecycle Management: Manage purchase requisitions, approval workflows, purchase orders, service entry coordination, renewals, amendments and contract documentation to ensure timely and accurate execution of service procurement requirements in line with business needs and internal controls.
Experience Required
- Preferred experience of minimum 15-20 years in strategic sourcing, indirect purchasing, services contracting and supplier management, preferably in automotive, manufacturing, industrial equipment or large engineering organizations.
- Strong exposure to service procurement categories such as facilities, logistics, warehousing, plant maintenance, AMC contracts, manpower outsourcing, engineering services, consulting, IT/digital services, travel, administration and other indirect business support services.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate Engineer. MBA or certification in Supply Chain/Procurement will be an added advantage.
