Job Purpose
The Advanced Engineer – Fluid Power Design & Integration is responsible for the design, integration, validation, and release of hydraulic systems and subsystems for Harvester and H&F agricultural equipment platforms.
The role provides advanced technical expertise in hydraulic system design, component sizing and selection, hydraulic hose/tube routing, vehicle packaging, and system integration, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and achievement of performance, reliability, quality, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and program timing objectives.
As part of the CNH ITC Fluid Power Engineering Team, the Advanced Engineer will work independently and collaborate with global engineering teams, system engineers, technical specialists, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to support new product development, product enhancement, cost optimization, quality improvement, and platform standardization initiatives.
The position requires strong hydraulic engineering fundamentals, hands-on CAD and integration expertise, technical leadership, and the ability to mentor engineers and drive complex engineering activities in a global product development environment
Key Responsibilities
Hydraulic System Design & Engineering
- Understand hydraulic system requirements and translate them into robust solutions meeting vehicle performance, reliability, quality, cost, and timing targets.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, system analysis, and sizing/selection of pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, accumulators, filters, reservoirs, hoses, tubes, fittings, connectors, and manifolds.
- Develop solutions considering pressure, flow, temperature, pressure drop, durability, duty cycle, and overall system performance.
Hydraulic Integration, Packaging & Routing
- Create and manage vehicle-specific 3D hydraulic layouts using Creo and TcAE, following applicable routing standards and release processes.
- Support packaging of pumps, valves, motors, cylinders, reservoirs, manifolds, and associated hardware.
- Design and optimize hoses, tubes/pipes, fittings, adapters, connectors, clamps, and brackets using Creo Pro/Piping.
- Ensure routing meets clearance, bend radius, articulation, motion envelope, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, reliability, and durability requirements.
Independently implement required design and routing modifications.
Drawing, Data Management & Release
- Create and review 2D drawings for hydraulic hoses, tubes, pipes, brackets, assemblies, and components per applicable CNH standards and GD&T requirements.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, interface requirements, and engineering standards.
- Manage engineering data, BOM information, documentation, configuration, and design releases through Teamcenter.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure deliverable quality before release.
Validation & Problem Solving
- Support prototype builds, vehicle testing, design validation, and production implementation.
- Lead/support root cause analysis of hydraulic, routing, packaging, leakage, durability, and integration issues and implement corrective actions.
- Apply FMEA, DVP&R, DOE, DFA/DFM, tolerance analysis, and FEA, as applicable.
- Capture lessons learned to prevent recurrence of validation, manufacturing, and field issues.
Global Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Collaborate with global System Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Validation, Prototype Shop, and Supplier teams.
- Lead technical discussions, drive design convergence, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans.
- Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and mentoring to engineers and GET/GAT team members.
- Support technical capability development within the ITC Fluid Power team.
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and improve hydraulic design guidelines, routing standards, checklists, templates, and best practices.
- Drive standardization and reuse of hydraulic components and design solutions across platforms.
- Identify opportunities for design simplification, cost and quality improvement, productivity, and commonization.
- Capture and implement project lessons learned across future programs.
Behavioral Competencies
- Strong expertise in hydraulic system design, routing, packaging, component selection, and vehicle integration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
- High ownership, accountability, self-motivation, and execution focus.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and global stakeholder management.
- Ability to resolve technical issues, drive cross-functional alignment, and mentor engineers/GET/GAT resources.
Experience Required
Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within Agricultural, Construction, or Off-Highway equipment product development.
Preferred Experience & Technical Skills
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in hydraulic system design, routing, packaging, and integration for Agricultural, Construction, or Off-Highway equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic system architecture, design calculations, component sizing and selection.
- Good understanding of pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, accumulators, filters, reservoirs, and hydraulic control components.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic hoses, tubes/pipes, fittings, adapters, connectors, clamps, brackets, and associated manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on proficiency in Creo, Creo Pro/Piping, Teamcenter, 3D modeling, and hydraulic routing.
- Experience with vehicle master-model and large assembly environments.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of Viz Mockup/TcAE or equivalent digital mock-up tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with FEA, FMEA, DFMEA, DFA/DFM, DVP&R, root cause analysis, and product validation processes.
- Experience working through the complete engineering lifecycle from concept/design through prototype, validation, release, and production implementation.
