Job Purpose

CNH Industrial, a world leader in the design, development and manufacturing of construction and agricultural equipment, has an opening for an Electronic System Engineer Innovation & AI Integration. The candidate will contribute to the definition, development, integration and validation of innovative vehicle capabilities for Construction Equipment machines while supporting portion of standard product development.

The role combines electronic system engineering competencies with innovation project, with particular focus on emerging technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced control, Automation and Intelligent vehicle functions. The successful candidate will work across internal engineering teams and an external ecosystem including suppliers, engineering service providers, technology partners, research centers and universities.

The position is responsible for supporting innovation initiatives from initial technology exploration and feasibility assessment through prototyping, validation and final onboarding, ensuring that externally developed technologies, solutions and engineering capabilities are effectively transferred into the organization with appropriate documentation, interfaces, ownership, internal know-how and active support to system engineers belonging to Electronics Product Development.

Key Responsibilities

Innovation & AI
• Drive innovation projects from technology scouting and feasibility assessment through PoC, prototype, validation and technology onboarding.
• Evaluate emerging technologies including AI/ML, advanced control, perception, automation, data analytics and intelligent operator assistance for Construction Equipment applications.
• Define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, work packages, dependencies and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate technical reviews and monitor project maturity, risks, gaps and integration readiness.
• Define and coordinate validation activities to demonstrate technical feasibility, robustness and business value.

External Ecosystem & Partnerships
• Coordinate technical activities with suppliers, consultants, technology providers, startups, research institutes and universities.
• Support technical scopes of work and Statements of Work for externally executed engineering activities.
• Ensure external solutions align with CNH architectures, engineering standards, interfaces and product requirements.
• Build effective technical partnerships with clear ownership, deliverables and decision points.

Technology & Capability Onboarding
• Transition successful innovations into engineering capabilities, reusable technologies or production programs.
• Ensure technology and knowledge transfer from external partners to internal engineering teams.
• Support onboarding of new competencies through documentation, processes, tools, training and technical handover.
• Ensure IP, documentation, models, datasets, algorithms, software and engineering knowledge are captured and transferred.
• Promote reuse and commonality of innovative solutions across products and platforms.

Cross-functional Engineering & Governance
• Collaborate with Product Platforms, Validation, Software Engineering, System Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Digital and other engineering teams.
• Participate in design/technical reviews, risk assessments, DFMEA and innovation reviews.
• Monitor project progress, dependencies and technical risks, escalating critical issues when required.
• Prioritize assigned projects based on business needs and management direction.
• Promote innovative designs, inventions, patents and product/process improvements.
• Track technology developments in Construction Equipment, automotive, robotics, AI and adjacent industries through partners, universities, research organizations and technical communities.

Experience Required

•  Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in system engineering, product development, advanced engineering or technology development.

•  Experience within one or more of the following industries is preferred: Agriculture, Construction Equipment, Automotive, On/Off Highway, Heavy Equipment, Robotics, Aerospace or Railway.

•  Good understanding of complex mechatronic and electronic vehicle systems.

•  Ability to translate functional needs into system requirements, technical specifications and interface definitions.

•  Experience working in a strong cross-functional and multidisciplinary engineering environment.

•  Experience managing technical activities involving external suppliers, engineering partners or consultants.

•  Ability to coordinate multiple technical projects or workstreams from concept and feasibility phases through validation and implementation.

•  Good understanding of software-enabled systems and embedded control architectures, without necessarily requiring specialist-level embedded software development expertise.

•  Ability to understand software architectures, communication interfaces and vehicle networks such as CAN and related communication protocols.

•  Good capability in system-level troubleshooting and technical problem solving.

•  Ability to communicate effectively with specialists from different technical domains and translate complex technical topics into clear project actions and decisions.

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•  Ability to travel worldwide as required to support assigned programs and technology partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent.
