Job Purpose
The Driveline System Engineer is responsible for the driveline electronic systems throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept definition to production launch. The role acts as the technical bridge between Driveline Electronics and other engineering teams, translating system needs into requirements, diagnostics, monitoring strategies, and software specifications. While the position is primarily focused on system engineering activities, hands-on involvement in vehicle testing, transmission development activities, manufacturing validation, and field evaluations is expected to ensure a deep understanding of the product and support robust system definition.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain driveline system architecture, system requirements, and diagnostics specifications, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs to software implementation and validation activities.
- Collect and consolidate requirements from vehicle, mechanical, hydraulic, manufacturing, service, and product support teams, translating them into structured specifications using Polarion.
- Develop diagnostics, health monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, and Flight Recorder (FREC) requirements to support product reliability, serviceability, and data-driven engineering.
- Define remote monitoring, telemetry, and connected vehicle requirements in collaboration with Connectivity, Network, and Vehicle Data Analytics teams.
- Support software development and validation activities, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and participation in vehicle, transmission, and field testing.
- Define End-Of-Line (EOL) requirements and automatic production test strategies, supporting the development, validation, and deployment of transmission EOL test benches.
- Support product quality, risk analysis, and compliance activities through participation in FMEA and Functional Safety processes in accordance with ISO 25119
Experience Required
- Master's Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Vehicle, Control Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in embedded control systems, powertrain systems, electro-hydraulic systems and driveline architectures.
- Experience in requirements engineering and system specification development and requirements management tools (Polarion preferred).
- Understanding of Model-Based Development methodologies (MATLAB/Simulink), MIL, SIL, and HIL development and validation methodologies.
- Experience with CAN-based systems, communication networks, and diagnostic protocols.
- Experience in system integration and troubleshooting activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to plants, suppliers, proving grounds, and customer field locations as required.
- Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with agricultural machinery and tractor control systems.
- Experience in vehicle diagnostics, condition monitoring, telematics, predictive maintenance, and connected vehicle solutions.
- Knowledge of ISO 25119 and Functional Safety processes.
- Experience with FMEA activities.
- Experience with data analytics applied to vehicle systems.
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is EUR €39,000.00 - €54,000.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
