Job Purpose

We wish to recruit students to work in the following disciplines at our Basildon head office and plant, for 12 months, starting in July - August 2026:

 

Systems Integration and Field test
This intern position represents an opportunity for the successful applicant to understand the process of New Product Development and the activities that are completed to test and validate new product design.
The applicant will be part of a global team that is responsible for the continued tuning, development, and integration of the tractor systems. This includes testing and validating all the sub-systems that make up the product. These can range from PTO engagements, front suspension, engine management and everything in between. 

 

In the field test role, you will also be working within the European field test engineers team you will assist with field-testing and development activities of prototype tractors fleets. Some of the key activities include preparing tractors and testing equipment for shipping to field, conducting vehicle tests (including use of the CNH Industrial Electronic Service Tool, CAN analysis equipment), reporting concerns and facilitating problem resolution, liaising with design and test engineering groups, product management, after sales, and commercial groups, customers and dealerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of system and process issues.
  • Work with people throughout Europe to solve software issues.
  • With the use of diagnostic equipment and computer programs, implement changes to the software.
  • Follow strict test plans to logically test every feature in the respected system and report your finding to your manager.
  • Assists test engineers with routine engineering tests in the field, including use of test equipment devices i.e. dynamometers, instrumentation, instruments, data acquisition systems.
  • Prepare prototype tractors and test equipment for shipping to field.
  • Diagnose, repair issues found on mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical components on Ag machinery or test systems.
  • Assemble and install updated parts to Prototype AG vehicles
  • Collate technical documentation necessary to support prototype tractors, engineers and drivers
  • Maintain vehicle databases including hourly record sheets, problem reports and build records.
  • Report concerns found in the field and facilitate in problem resolution.
  • Procure parts and equipment necessary to service and repair Prototype tractors.
  • Liaise with design and test engineering groups, product management, after sales, and commercial groups, customers and CNH dealerships.
  • Operate / drive AG vehicles and/or test equipment for test purposes, as required
  • This role will involve travel to customer farms, test sites and CNH dealership locations.

Experience Required

  • Fully Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook, with a relatively high computer literacy standard.
  • An interest in machinery and / or a farming background and some competency in operating agricultural equipment would be advantageous.
  • Fluency in English
  • Driving License
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving with a strong attention to detail approach.
  • Must be able to work under own initiative with guidance.
  • Good communicator and Presentation skills
  • Experience of tractor electrical and electronic systems - fault finding, calibration and set up of electrical/electronic systems. Knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems. Reasonable workshop/fitting skills.
  • Candidates should be enthusiastic and possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • The positions may require travel to dealers, suppliers or test sites and therefore some flexibility in working hours is required.
  • Full UK driving license.
